Salad days part 2

It really feels like the change of seasons now that the weather is cooling down and the rains have come.  And Jesse’s vegie garden is growing from strength to strength, particularly the tomatoes, peas and lettuces. So much so that MV had to add some homemade stakes to support the tomatoes and give the peas something to curl around.

While the lettuces are not fully formed yet, there is no harm in picking some of the tender centre leaves and one evening this week that’s exactly what we did so Jesse got the experience of growing, picking and eating the product of his own labours.

The leaves were succulent – lusciously green and mouth wateringly tender.

We added them to our tacos for the evening meal – just perfect.

What have you grown lately that you could make a meal of?
